What’s new with
BL@ST? In partnership with Airborne Access, BL@ST
Prepaid Internet cards can now be used to access the
Internet via Wi-Fi Hotspots all throughout the country.
With BL@ST, you don’t need to purchase a separate
prepaid card to access the Internet via Wi-Fi!
With BL@ST, you have the freedom to access the Internet
via conventional dial-up or speed up on the Information
Highway via Wi-Fi!
What is Wi-Fi? Short for wireless fidelity, Wi-Fi is a wireless
communications technology that allows end users to access
the Internet using Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops,
PDAs and mobile phones.
What is a Hotspot? A Hotspot is an access point or area which
offers Wi-Fi access to its patrons/members. WiFi Hotspots
are popularly found in coffee shops, airport and hotel
lobbies, etc.
Note: There are currently over 200 hotspots nationwide.
What do I need to access
a Wi-Fi hotspot?

the following:

get per P100 BL@ST card?
Each P100 BL@ST card gives you 20 (Metro Manila) or
12 (Provincial POPs) hours worth of dial-up access or
one hour of Wi-Fi access.
Usage is pro-rated depending on the access type. For
example, if you already used 10 hours of your BL@ST
(Metro Manila) card, you will have either 10 hours of
Dial-up or 30 minutes of Wi-Fi access time left.
How do I know how much
time I’ve already used up? Wi-Fi access is already integrated
in the BL@ST check usage facility found at www.blast.ph
What Bl@st cards can
be used to access Wi-Fi? Any BL@ST P100 denomination whether
card (of whatever card design) or e-PIN sold in Metro
Manila can be used to access both dial-up and Wi-Fi
services.
Note that both fresh cards or with usage (as long with
enough credits) can be used to access to Wi-Fi.
What will happen to
the stardard BL@ST features?
The free XLR8 Technology* and the reloadable feature
shall remain to be standard features of BL@ST. Note
however that XLR8 can only be enjoyed when you are on
dial-up Internet access.
*XLR8 Features:
With accelerator that will enable the
card user to surf up to 6x faster than regular
dial-up
Comes with privacy and security features
that will shield the computer from harmful applications
acquired on the Internet
Can I still enjoy BL@ST’s
reloadable feature even if I use both dial-up and Wi-Fi
services?
Yes. It will just like be topping up with your regular
BL@ST card wherein you will have credits added to your
remaining ones. You can use the total new credits for
dial-up or Wi-Fi or for a combination of the services.
Usage as previously mentioned is pro-rated depending
on the access type used.
You have to remember to add “wifi” to your
BL@ST reloadable account (e.g. speed@wifi) when you
want to access the Internet in the Airborne Access powered
Wi-Fi hotspots using BL@ST.
Can I use a BL@ST P50
card or e-PIN to top up? Yes, you can use a BL@ST P50 variant to top
up your reloadable account. Note however that the free
access during 12MN to 4AM will not work when you access
Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi usage at any time will be decremented from
your total credits.
What is the maximum
speed that I can achieve when I access Wi-Fi in the
hotspots using BL@ST? The maximum achievable burstible speed
when using Wi-Fi access is dependent on the speed being
offered by each Wi-Fi hotspot. Example, if the subscribed
DSL speed of the hotspot is 896 kbps then that is potentially
your maximum burstible speed using your BL@ST with Wi-Fi
card.
Is there any change
in the card validity? The card validity of BL@ST is still
90 days after first log-on.
